SEO Year End Review

     -     Dec 23rd, 2010   -     Accounting Marketing, Search Engine Optimization   -     3 Comments

As 2011 quickly approaches I encourage you to do some year end review and planning. We work accountants and CPA firms so this is our “year end tax planning” post of sorts. We want to encourage everyone to take a fresh look at their website, social media and other online outlets to ensure you are in the best possible position to attract new business and continue to build your presence in the digital world.

Below are some review points to consider as 2011 quickly approaches:

  1. Listings. Have your claimed your geographical lists such as the Local/Places/Maps features on Google, Bing and other search engines? If not be sure to do so. Proper listing will allow your company to be displayed when a relevant search is conducted by geography;
  2. On Page SEO. Have you recently reviewed you meta tags, H1, H2, H3 and keyword copy on each of the pages on your website? If not, then take the time to review each to ensure the copy is fresh and keyword rich. Most accounting firms will offer a news section for clients and prospects to learn about the latest in relevant news. If you added new pages, double check and be sure the proper on-page SEO have been completed;
  3. Content Development Strategy – Make sure you have a content development strategy in place. How often does your firm add new information to the website? Remember that content is king in SEO so the more valuable information you provide to users the better your SEO results will be;
  4. Feed Submissions– Have you submitted your website feeds recently? If not, then use this time of year to research feed aggregators and be sure to get your website listed;
  5. Keyword Research– If you have not conducted new keyword research recently then make a plan to do. Remember by monitoring and adjusting your keywords, you will be able to obtain the best results.

By following these year end steps you will be able to ensure your SEO efforts are refreshed and ready to work for you during the coming tax season and beyond.
