It’s a good idea to branch out into specific skill sets to broaden knowledge about areas crucial for marketing innovation. We’re biased, but we highly recommend a deeper dive into SEO training. FlashPoint scoured the best 2019 SEO conferences happening in the U.S. and abroad this spring, summer and fall. With conferences on the West Coast, East Coast, Midwest, and UK, there’s something for everyone. Read on to discover what you may learn at each.

April 2019

2019 SEO Conference

4/4 – 4/5 Advanced Search Summit (Napa Valley, CA)

$249 – $999

This conference is ideal for seasoned SEO practitioners and digital marketers looking for advanced SEO strategies and tactics. Think algorithms, AI, and analytics – mixed with some of our country’s finest wines. Not a bad combo. Advanced Search Summit heads to the East Coast in September, so don’t worry if California is too far.

 

4/11 – 4/12 SearchCon (Breckenridge, CO)

SearchCon is two days of various aspects of SEO with sessions on mobile indexing, PPC, and advanced technical SEO. Expect to hear from industry experts and get involved in sessions that focus on the agency side of SEO (this perspective can be valuable for marketers, as the CPAs are the client and the marketing department is the agency). 5/6 – 5/8 C3 (New York City)

$999 – $1,199

C3 is an event presented by enterprise SEO and content platform Conductor. It’s geared toward senior-level digital marketers and focuses on connecting the content and customer to SEO best practices. Three tracks are targeted – strategy, innovation, and tactics – with each featuring speakers from top B2B and industry leaders in digital marketing and search.

 

5/21 – 5/22 Search Marketing Expo [SMX] (London, England)

$654 – $2,240 (£495 – £1,695)

It’s not exactly down the street, but SMX is one of the world’s largest and longest running SEO conferences – meaning it’s a destination by itself. The founders of Search Engine Land started the SMX conference series in 2007 and attendees can choose from a SEO bootcamp, advanced Google Ads workshop, or an international search summit in addition to the whole conference. Don’t forget the fish and chips!

 

June 2019

6/3 – 6/5 SMX Advanced (Seattle, WA)

$249 – $1,945 (rates increase on 4/28 and 6/3)

Advanced SEO and SEM is on the agenda for this state-side version of SMX. This conference doesn’t cover the basics and the sessions are fast-paced, so anyone who attends should already have a solid understanding of search tactics. The conference describes itself as fast-paced with a concentration on session Q&A.

6/10 – 6/11 SearchLove (Boston, MA)

Date: June 10-11

$999 – $1,299 (rates increase on 4/16)

This conference, like SMX, has one event in the states and another abroad; look for the international SearchLove conference in October in London. Topics include search, analytics, content creation, website optimization, paid promotions, and more. In-house SEO managers and marketers will be joined by agency professionals and business owners. It’s a general search conference but the courses are designed for the intermediate to advanced professional.

6/21 – MN Search Summit

$299 – $589

One day search summit held in St. Paul Minnesota and hosted by MN Search. Attendees consist of marketers of all stripes and experience levels. Topics to be covered will include Mobile Focused SEO, Advanced SEO Tactics, LinkedIn Ads for lead generation and even a session on how to leverage microsites to drive leads. There are several sessions and track options to choose from and appears to be a good conference for those local to the area and seeking to expand their knowledge.

7/15 – 7/17 MozCon (Seattle, WA)

$1,199 – $1,699 (plus discounts for teams of five or more)

This is one that’s not to be missed. Seattle is home yet again to a signature SEO conference that’s put on by the folks who lead the pack in search and website optimization. A single track will cover SEO, local search, mobile search, analytics, content, and social. It’s general enough that anyone can get value, but high-level enough that even the more SEO-savvy CMOs will learn something.

8/13-8/15 – Search Birmingham

€99 – €250

This recently announced two-day event in Birmingham UK covers all aspects of getting ranked highly on Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). The focus will be on link building including techniques for advanced backlink building and even features a session from SEO expert Craig Campell. There will also be a free forum Q&A session where participants can ask speakers about topics on their mind and issues they are facing.

8/15 – 8/16 Learn Inbound (Dublin, Ireland)

$282 – $451 (€249 – €399)

Learn Inbound covers all aspects of, you guessed it, inbound marketing. That means SEO but also PPC, content creation, Google AdWords (and Bing), copywriting, product marketing, analytics, conversation rate optimization, and digital PR. It’s a one-track conference plus an optional, one-day intensive technical SEO training course. Don’t forget to save some room for corned beef and

9/3 – 9/6 Inbound (Boston, MA)

$99 – $1,799 (rates increase 5/15)

This is another conference hosted by a renowned industry leader: HubSpot. Similar to “Learn Inbound” in London, this conference considers all aspect of the inbound marketing process, including SEO. It’s big – as in, 20,000+ attendees – and sessions will cover everything from SEO to social media. The breakout sessions can make it feel more personal, and certifications are available, too. Keynote speakers are often celebrities or well-known authors or athletes, so look for the technical nuts and bolts in the breakout sessions moreso than the large talks.

9/16-9/18 – Challenger Summit 2019 (Los Angeles, CA)

$400 – $1,195 (sessions option available)

SEO conference hosted at WP Promote HQ in Los Angeles, CA. This 3-day conference tackles a variety of topics of interest to the digital marketer. Session topics include Facebook’s Vision of the Future, Optimizing the Customer Experience in the Age of AI and more. The conference goes beyond just SEO trends in 2o19 to cover the entire customer buying journey and offers something for everyone with the three dedicated tracks (based on professional focus).

9/20 – 9/21 Confluence Conference (Oklahoma City, OK)

Last year’s Confluence Conference was held in September 2018, and they haven’t released details for 2019 yet. It’s known to be a great regional conference with sessions for everyone from SEO and digital marketing beginners to managers. Topics include SEO, PPC, content marketing, analytics, and the role of social media. A link to last year’s conference is below.

 

October 2019

10/7 – 10/10 Pubcon (Las Vegas, NV)

$999 – $1,699 (rates increase 6/30 and Masters Workshops can be purchased separately)

This is another large conference and is known for deep dives into all things marketing: SEO, social media, PPC, content marketing, social media, email marketing, WordPress, and more. Masters Training Workshops take place on Day 1 and there is a lot to pick from: Advanced SEO, AdWords, International SEO, Social Media Advertising, and Local Search. Also look for site reviews, where attendees put their websites in for expert reviews on SEO strategies, PPC campaigns, and more.

This is the London version of the same conference being held in Boston in June. Topics include SEO, link building, local search, and analytics.

 

November 2019

11/4 – 11/5 State of Search (Dallas, TX)

The agenda will feature topics like PPC, SEO, local SEO, paid media, SEM, the role of social media, link building, and more.

11/7 – 11/9 UnGagged (Los Angeles, CA)

$899 – $1,595 (master classes are purchased separately)

What makes this conference unique is that it prohibits recordings to enable honest, open sessions and discussions among attendees. General sessions can be combined with a full-day, in-depth master class. Last year, these were technical SEO, local SEO, or Facebook classes to choose from. There are lots of opportunities to network and share ideas. UnGagged was also held in London in April. As of this writing, tickets aren’t on sale but it’s certain they will be going on sale.

 


11/13 – 11/14 SMX East (New York City, NY)

This series of conferences comes to the East Coast for in-depth sessions on SEO and SEM. Tickets are not on sale yet.
